Question

Just been reading with interest in the "General" section about mudflaps etc, etc.See http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/threa...threadid=92466
I have an MY01 and would like to get hold of these "Mini Prodrive" mudflaps that are supposedly designed for the P1 but fit the MY01's with a little adaptation.Just phoned my local dealer and they said they couldn't find the part code on their system which according to Dave T-S is SACC2145.They'll get back to me later though????
Has anybody recently purchased these and if so from where? (A contact number would help too )
I've just inserted the pics of these mudflaps from Dave T-S's post on the general section.Hope you don't mind??

Any help greatly appreciated as I wanna stop further stone chips down the side of my car

Cheers,

Nick

Two threads showing some alternatives:

http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/threa...threadid=78187
http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/threa...threadid=76239

The 'splash' guard type mud flaps are a triumph of design over function, ie do very little.

I have the same mudflaps that are fitted to phil_stephens car (see second thread) and they cost £52 for a pair. If your car is black then they already come colour coded (not sure whether they could be painted though).

No problems with the mud flaps as far as ground clearance is concerned and my car has been lowered with Prodrive Springs.

They are very affective at preventing stones from hitting the side if the car.

Cheers

They are branded as Prodrive P1 ones, and from memory are about £20 a pair.

To make them fit the MY01/2 you need to elongate the two mounting holes a bit in towards the middle (5mm or so either end - you can snip the plastic out with a pair of wire cutters, and if you fix them with 20mm or so washers under the screw this hole is hidden under the washer - you can see by my photos).

The plastic trim clips that come with them do not fit as they are too short, I just pulled the wheelarch protector back and fitted a couple of spire nuts (those flattened U shaped spring steel body trim clips with a self tapper hole made in them) on to the wheelarch and fitted them with self tappers. It makes a neat job and only takes a few minutes when you have figured out the best way to do them.

Talking of mudflaps, I've got an STI kit on a wrx and these mudflaps are made from solid rubber, moulded to fit the side skirts and sprayed to colour match. I don't know what type they are but the look prety funky!!!

The garage in question this time is E.S Jones in Flintshire and I hope for their sake, they've ordered my bits and that they're there for when I visit on sunday!!!!

Cool

Dave,I have just fitted these mini mudflaps to my uk300, my main dealer advide was just to unscrew the arch liner bolts and bolt through the mud flaps and re-tighten. This didn't seam very safe so I adopted your method, works a treat thanks, although to get those u fixings over the bottom hole was a bit tricky, I also managed to secure with out modding the hole size. For any one else about to fit these mud flaps I suggest Dave's method
Cheers

Dave, got hold of the flps - where would you recommend getting the spire nuts from? How does the bottom screw fit as this seems to be positioned by the screw for the side skirts.

At the top, clip the spire nut on to the metal of the wheel arch behind the wheelarch protector. At the bottom, slide the spire nut in between the sill cover and the wheelarch protector so it covers the hole that the plastic trim clip goes into. It will stay in place and you can then screw through it.

Thanks Dave, so basically I discard the existing plastic screw clips and use two spire nuts together with self tapping screws to fit the lot back together. Where did you get the spire nuts from?

Ah, the spire nuts - i've got an assortment I obtained when a garage was closing down years ago.....try a decent motor factors like Partco or Brown Brothers, or a specialist fastener supplier - you'll find them in Yellow Pages.

Question

Dave

I'm still less than good. Managed to get some spire nuts (they sell them in Halfords!!) and I have managed to fit the top hole. But the bottom hole seems to hold on the end of the side skirt, how do I get behind this to fit the spire nut without pull in the skirt off - or am I doing something fundamentally wrong (probably). Any further explaination would be excellent.

Cheers

Gently prise the sill cover and wheelarch liner apart and tuck the spire nut in between them - not under the wheelarch liner

Guys,
Has anyone fitted a set of these to the rear of the car or have you all just fitted em to the front????? (I ordered 4x mini-flaps for mine but still ain't fitted em yet!)
The back ones appear to need re-drillin to make em fit the holes on the wheel arch area am I not correct?

Cheers

thanks Dave, I thought that must be it but was concerned that the sill cover wouldn't then be attached to the wheel arch - but I guess yours' haven't fallen off. Thanks again.

If your dealer can't identify the number they are a bit lacking!!

They came via a dealer, and that is the official part code ("SACC" = Subaru ACCessory).

You should be able to get them via ANY Subaru dealer (that has a brain....).

Nigel
I have to disagree, having had the mini flaps on four MY01/2's, they DO work.

Dave, just out of interest, how much did you pay for yours and are they the ones designed for the MY01 onwards or the P1 mudflaps as people have mentioned?? (Just incase my 'happy' dealer tries to rip me off again!!!)

Cheers,

Nick..

P.S: Can't guarantee my dealer has a brain though.He was a right miserable b@st@rd!!!
