100,000 miles and what to do now??
Hi,
well 'Ruubarb', a 2001 Bug-eye WRX, just achieved the landmark of 100,000 miles and I thought we should celebrate.
Now Im thinking of giving her a good service, but I dont want to spend a fortune, I think Im going to get laid off in 5-6 weeks. I work at Nokia n we are loosing 10k people soon.
The history of the car is mildly average, No major faults, the green test connectors are still 'hidden' in the loom. (at least I presume they are as I cannot find them under the dash.)
Mostly stock all of her life except a 2.5" HnS fitted about 5 years ago, FSH by various garages every 15k.
She currently burns about 0.7ltr of Mobile 1 5w30 ESP in about 7k miles which I think is acceptable enough for an engine of this age, but I might try something 5w40 next.
Im thinking servicing items that are not in the general service schedule.
1- Iv ordered a Grp N gearbox mount
2- The Boost soliniod I think might need a good clean after this many miles.
3- I think also to clean out the inter-cooler with petrol and Im going to try n fix some of the worst bent finns.
4- Maybe dump a bottle of injector cleaner into the next couple of tanks of petrol.
So.. what else is the general opinion of jobs that might help the car feel a little younger??
How far can / should I go with cleaning the intake system, I sure there is a whole load of crud caked in there.
Cheers
Vik

If the car is still running okay and does not have any issues then just routine servicing is all I would do. Just because it has hit the 100k mark doesn't mean it now needs immediate attention and expense. Personally I would spend as little as possible as the car isn't worth much.
