Default Aircon and acceleration

Hi Guys,

I've seen lots of threads of people removing aircon to save weight. But a mate mentioned that if you remove the aircon bits and belt, it doesnt make much of a difference in terms of weight, but the engine will rev better and accelerate better because there is no aircon belt sapping energy

So, guys who have removed your aircon bits, is this true in your experience? Did you notice a difference in pick up? revs?

the aircon unit has a clutch on it so its not really driving the pump unless the air con is on.
it will save weight removing it but id rather have it really, save weight elsewhere if need be but i doubt you would notice the difference in a road car if you removed it anyway

Tip: remove any refrigerants from the Aircon system and replace with helium thus making the car lighter.

the belt also goes around the alternator, so if it fell off the battery would go flat and the battery light would illuminate on the dash.

Which one is best? The one with Ketchup or HP sauce.

Took my aircon out as it was F'ed. To find the metal bar underneath it which also supports the engine radiator was rottern.
