ok..
I've just got my nice shiny new defi gauge and ecu and I've worked out where to route the wires and place the sender but I've absolutly no idea where to take the power from for the controler bit (If your in the Reading area and want to earn a pint or two I could pop over ).
a) I'd appreciate if someone could tell what the 4 wires are :
red - live?
Black - earth?
orange - ??
white - ??

b) where I could attach them
c) if I need to fit a seperate fuse for the live.

I no a little bit of electronics but I'm not keen to chop power lines until I'm pretty sure

If theres an FAQ online I'd appreciate it (I've read Chiarks but that doesn't cover wiring ). And ofcourse all the instructions are in japanese

Red - Constant 12v (to remember settings/peaks)
Orange - 12v with ignition on
White - 12v with lights on
Black - Earth

Hope this helps.

Um, just read b) and c)

Constant live could be taken from the fuse box. Locate the fuse that powers the clock or radio and use the fused side of that.

Ignition live from the back of the ignition key barrel.

Lights from the fuse box again, fused side of the feed to the side lights.

Earth - anywhere metal, attach the wire with one of those little --0 things. (Wire goes onto the -- and small screw through the 0 )

As for fuses, I see no harm in say a 5 amp in line fuse on the 3 live feeds to the control unit. Not sure if they are essential tho.

All the above is IMHO - I am NOT an auto electrician.

Good luck

David

Cool

Not quite the same thing as you'll want them Defi's to light up in the dark

I remember from installing my boost guage that there is a useful feed from an unused plug in the stereo wires that is listed somewhere in HERE!!!

Cool

ahhhhhhhh thanks shark
although I'm sure they'll be a terrified question session when I bugger it up

Orange - 12v with ignition on
White - 12v with lights on
just wondering why two wires for the same thing?
[edited to add the confusion]
