Daft car aerial question and lumpy running low revs
Hi all,
My first post on here, so hello to everyone!!
Had quite a few imports (skylines, pulsars etc) and picked up a 98 WRX STI import yesterday to sit along side my E46 BMW M3.
This might be a daft question - but how do you put down the rear car aerial - its the original jap one.. cant seem to find a button to make it go down?
Also, at lower revs 2000 to 3000 and idle it's bit lumpy.. do I need to check maf, some sensors - anything obvious to check first?
Once over 3000 and giving it some its sweeet nice and smooth and pulls very strong.
Many thanks,
Adam

Hello mate, enjoy the car and this site. It's a mine of info, but like all mines, you'll have to sift out what's worth having from the stuff that's wrong.
I don't know about the aeriel: IS it electric? The one fitted to UK cars isn't, but they took almost evrything else off UK cars too.......if they could have got away with selling them without seats they would have, LOL.
Lumpy idle/tickover could be:
Dirty or stuck ICV,
Broken MAF.
Plugs badly gapped, dirty, broken,
Coilpack on the way out.
Is the car running any mods at all?

Thanks for your reply.
Yeah, I think its electric... got a feeling it should automatically go up and down when the radio is turned on and off etc.. the car has a really nice alpine head unit fitted - maybe it's missing a factory connection to power the aerial up and down? not a big deal I can live with it.
As far as the lumpy running, got a feeling it's the fuel I put in it yesterday.. according to the pump it was premium unleaded but i'm not so sure - some crappy Texaco garage - should have gone to shell or tesco
Emptied the tank today had a long drive to work and back - filled it up with Tesco momentum 99 full fresh tank.. will report back once I've done couple miles to see if this has resolved it.
Thanks,
Adam
