Default vin numbers

hi can anyone tell me what version my impreza is my vin number starts off with jf1gc8kd i bought a apex power fc it came off a 99 but I've got a 98 classic does anyone know weather this will still marry up to my car any help would be great thanks

1998 is v4, 99 is v5 i think, how many plugs does your power FC have? Iirc you 1998 is a 3 plug, I'm guessing your new one has 4.

10th character of the VIN is the model year which maybe different to the registration year.........

V= 1997
W=1998
X=1999
Y=2000
1=2001

etc
