Default Poor Rickover when hot

Posting in behalf of a friend,

Car is a uk turbo 2000 t reg,

He has had car for 6 weeks and 4 of those it has been perfect, it is not his daily drive but for the last 2 weeks when hot it ticked over slightly lumpy the rpm died slowly to a stall, starts with no trouble but won't tick over, removed a dump valve as it was not sealing properly, took for a drive and all seemed ok, left it running then after around 20 mins the problem re appeared, tick over from around 750/800, dropping slowly to a stall, then started it again but would not tickover, the problem is only when it's at engine running temp or hot enough for the fans to kick in when stationary, mileage is 137k only mods are a cat back exhaust which has been on the car for a few years now,

Any help would be appriciated

Thanks mark

Could be the mass airflow sensor. Not an unknown problem on that model.
With the engine idling disconnect the sensor. It should drop revs and possibly stall. If it stays the same, it could be at fault.
