Hi i also have a weird Knock/Clunking noise every time i lift off the accelerator coming from what seems to be the rear left end of my car ?? Only happens when i left off throttle not when going over bumps ect.. I thought it might have something to do with the rear diff but looks like im going to have to put it into a garage and get it checked out.. Mines a classic v6 type r by the way

From what I understand the type R's have a different rear diff which has a noticable amount of backlash in them causing a small knocking noise. A mate of mine had a v6 sti type R v limited wrc and his has a small knock, it was investigated by scoobyclinic and was informed that its perfectly normal.

Ever since getting my 2005 STI a stage 1 upgrade, I have this exact issue on my car. I think its got something to do with the power upgrade.

It may even be play in the propshaft?
