Default boost leak

a friend has got a 200 sx and he thinks he has a boost leak. his boost has gone down from 11 psi to .8 psi, and he hits some sort of engine cut at 5k reves.

im sure i have read on here somewhere, where someone has sprayed something around the engine bay when its running, and if there is a leak, it gets sucked into the engine and the reves pick up.

anyone know what it is?

thanks
ian

spray cold start (etha) and it will raise the tickover if its sucked in.

If you can't find a leak it may be cracking around the waste gate seat on the turbo.
