I recently fitted a Bailey Piston type dump valve (Atmospheric).
I think I now have a slight fueling issue.

On investigation Bailey have two models, DV24 & DV26, the latter being ironically called the "EVO". Pictures show them to look identical, but the DV26 is specifically for cars with MAF sensors fitted before the turbo.

I can see no markings other than the Bailey logo on the casing.

Can anyone advise me how I can tell if I have the DV26 - "EVO" model please? I am removing same till I know.

Thanks for that steve.

I also noticed that mine does not have any "grub screws" in the top as shown in the demon tweaks catalogue. Be interested to know if yours has?

thx again

Hi Steve, does it look like this?

The DV24 has a single piston arrangement whilst the DV26 or "EVO" (the one we should have) has a double piston system designed to avoid confusing the MAF sensor & fueling issues....

Appreciate any help with this,

if the 'tickover' on your car is ok with the d-v,then you have the evo type.look up the bore and you should see a small metal rod.
i have to say tho, standard valve performs bestest!!

Thanks for that mate, its now fitted on my MY00, will take a look as you say. Just been for a thrash and it seems fine, see how it runs after a few days.

Got to say though, other car now seems slightly slower through gear changes, or perhaps ita an audible delusion.

Steve, thanks for your help also, would still be interested in what the paperwork says it is.

Hi Steve

What sort of fuelling problem do you think you've got? I know that the DV you've got was specifically bought for a P1 - so it will be the DV26 (I believe the nozzle of the DV24 (connecting to the black rubber tube as shown in your picture) comes off at a right-angle). When I had the DV26 on my old MY00, the only problem I had was an occasional hesitation. I would have expected your car to run a little richer (over fuelling) than when using the OEM DV.

Hiya Chris, I was thinking of giving you a call tomorrow!

All is fine until backing off from full boost, if I feather out the revs I get a surge/hesitation thing going as if ECU has lost the plot. ie. back off slightly, hold the accelerator steady the engine seems to surge/retard repeatedly?

Any of this make sense?

Gone back to original & all seems fine. This started shortly after fitting, not straight away.

Its now on my MY00 to see if same thing happens. Maybe there is another issue and this is coincidental.

Thanks for input, see you to share some piccies soon?

Hi Steve

No problem! Just trying to think back to when I had the Bailey on my old car - it will be interesting to see if your MY00 does it as well. It might be worth having a chat to Bailey Motorsport as well. They are very helpful. Their website is here

Cheers

if its any help guys, i had the DV26 evo. it ran perfect, also had six (think it was six?) grubscrews on the top of it. also, like mentioned above, if i looked through the holes at the side (when they were open of course), i could see a thin brass rod.
like i saud, ran fine and idled fine. noticed it was always open on idle too.

Thumbs up

I'll have a look at mine at lunchtime.
I've had my bailey atmos dv (looks like the one in picture posted earlier) for 2-3 months, never had a problem with it.
I brought it second hand from here after my OEM dv started sounding like a fog horn.

Mine has those 6 grub fastenings at the "fat" end of the dv. It also opens when idling. So, coupled with the fact I haven't had any running problems I presume I've got a DV26 evo?.

Although saying that, I'm now getting a little tired of the "ptishhhhhhh" so I might look into getting a recirc.
