Can anybody help with this Bov problem please.
Had to remove it as it was causing my turbo to almost self distruct every time i booted it then powered off, was causing such servere turbo flutter sounded like the fins were going to explode.

There is some scoring on both sides of the piston and inside.

My question is would this cause the problem, and if so would polishing out the scoores sort out the problem.

It could be sticking in the closed position, you could polish that out with some emery paper I suppose and then reasemmble with grease. Personally I dont like the Bailey valve, I have a forge recirculating valve on mine, no flutter

Bailey dump valve + Scoob engione = problems.

Get rid. Go back to a recirculating type, your engine will thank you.

Hum, have been told to go for a Bailey, will have a look round for one.

I did buy a Turbo Smart one off WILKY0302 off here, but the thing is leaking have pmd him but had no reply, so cheers Wilky mate for that! should have just chucked my 50 quid down the bog and saved me the time and effort.

will give it a polish and see what happens. What grease would you suggest? thick or spray type?

Merlin i Have had 5 different dumpvalves since owning an impreza ;a baileys ,forge,GFB,turbosmart,& a blitz and the baileys one was the worst of the lot. Like you,I took the small allen key bolts off the top and cleaned it out ,but shortly afterwards it was the same, and erratic idling/boost soon followed. The best of the bunch imho was the blitz, which cost £100 more than the baileys and was much better made .In the end i went back to a std recirc and car ran much better,point is maf measures airflow,when you vta the maf has equated for this fuel - which is not there.

Merlin, I find the only way to be able to comment on an item is you have to actually try it 1st before you can truly comment on its performance , henceforth me buying 5 different vta's lol. I think alcazars point is aimed at people who just buy one and bolt it on there car & expect a performance gain - which there is not. There is nothing wrong with fitting a dump valve if you have your car mapped with it on as the mapper can compensate for the vented fuel,but like things in life it's down to personal preference.

It's a bit like marmite - some love it , most hate it lol , I prefer the sound of the turbo screaming personally . I recently bought a k & n 57i induction kit for my car as I was having a map tweak . After fitting it ,I took the car for a blast, and everytime I lifted off I could hear the induction roar which reminded me of the vta's I use to have fitted.
After only 4 miles I was back at home & 15 mins later the airbox was back on the car and the k&n was in the for sale section on here for £20 less than I paid for it. , and it sold within 3 hrs. Nothing at all wrong with it , just down to personal preference.
