Default Short block

I'm looking to get a new age STI short block to keep me going while I save for my 2.1 can all my bits and bobs fit the new short block?

There is nothing wrong with my current engine i just fancy abit more power in the short term. I don't want to push mine till it goes pop

Car is a My00 uk turbo

Also what is the best short block to look for ? Year ? Version ?

Also what power can they handle

Thanks Darcy

is it worth spending out on it for a ''just for now'' power if yours is ok? by the time you have got the block, new gaskets etc your time and mapping etc, that could be a good chunk of cash towards the 2.1

Pointless waste of time and money as your gearbox is more of an issue,so you won't be able to take full advantage of any engine until you change that, i'd be saving for one of those as well if i were you.

I hope my gearbox Isent the issue lol

It's running a Newage STI 6 speed :/

True it could go towards the 2.1 maybe if the Newage block is good enough for 450bhp then I will settle for that

Till I have the money for the 2.1 (got a baby on the way lol)

450 in a classic IMO is enough

Hi Darcy,

I would stick with what you have until you've saved for a 2.1 otherwise it's going to end up costing far more.

u should be able to 420 ish fine more be pushing but banny had a 550 or something like that on a new age sti short with standard sti 3 heads its a risk tho. 2.1 fit and forget.
