Wastegate Actuator/Solenoid problem?
Hi all
I'm having a problem with my 2.5 STi 06. It's mapped, aftermarket exhaust & cats etc., and it's developed a sort of lumpy running problem, combined with low boost.
The lumpiness is subtle but there - sort of hesitation/surge/hesitation, most noticeable at low revs.
Rolling Road showed it was down on boost by about 20%, and had lost about 10-15% bhp on the original map back in 2010.
Fuel usage is ok (it wasn't ok, but after an ECU reset that has stabilised), but it's still not running right, and it's down on power/boost.
Does this sound like wastegate actuator and/or solenoid problem?
Does anybody know (roughly) how much it is to get these changed? (Dealer just going through to answerphone at the moment and trying to get an answer soon as I can...)
Thanks all!

Sounds more like an air leak to me? Even if you disconnect the wastegate it should still run smoothly. I would check the intercooler and all associated pipes around the inlet manifold, intercooler, dump valve etc.

Hi - yes have had a look - I can't see all that many hoses to check tbh, but couldn't see any obvious loose clips, or obvious holes.
I also had air leak on my list of things to check, but (excuse my muppetness), other than poking around and hoping to see something obvious, how can I check?
