Default High pitched sound

Popped to Tesco today in the scooby and heard a high pitched rubbing sound coming from the front of the engine bay. I'm guessing, or at least hoping, that the sound is due to the huge amounts of rain we've had in this area just getting the fan belt wet. The whole area is completely flooded around here due to the downpours.

I've not noticed this before but the sound doesn't seem to get worse when driving at higher rpm. It seems to do this at idle so I thought I'd just make a post to see if anyone else has had this kind of issue.

Its your altenator/steering pump or a/c belt making the noise because of the water. may be an indication that they need to be adjusted or replaced

Thanks baz, I will get my friend to give me a lift to work tomorrow and just see if it makes this noise when this terrible weather sorts itself out. I had it remapped yesterday, but it didn't make any noise like this on the way home (100 miles), etc.. that was prior to the huge amounts of rain though.
