Popped to Tesco today in the scooby and heard a high pitched rubbing sound coming from the front of the engine bay. I'm guessing, or at least hoping, that the sound is due to the huge amounts of rain we've had in this area just getting the fan belt wet. The whole area is completely flooded around here due to the downpours.

I've not noticed this before but the sound doesn't seem to get worse when driving at higher rpm. It seems to do this at idle so I thought I'd just make a post to see if anyone else has had this kind of issue.

Could be alternator bearing, front crank seal dry or as u say the belts

Clutch release bearing?

Won't be the clutch bearing he would feel it and the make a kinda low rumble sound not a high pitch squeal
