Default Water issues

hi my mates Rb5 has sucked in some water through the breather, not a lot but enough to make it run badly!! any ideas please as to whats happened?

What breather? Located where on the car?

Not good fella, water can not be compressed it could of done all sorts of damage, all depends on how much water it sucked in and if the engine locked up cut out etc If it sucked in a lot of water it could of bent the conrods or damaged the bearings.

Just to add that's worse case senario, it might just be a wet maf making it run ruff.

Probably (hopefully) be what Pete said, I did the same in an old v6 cav, sucked some water in, it spluttered and coughed for about a week, replaced the maf (VX wanted 280+vat+fitting) got one for 80 and jobs a good un!

it didnt seem like a lot of water, but the air filter did feel quite wet!!
