Default Tank and swirl pot.

I have a 95 RA STi running 300BHP. Used for tracks, though it's road legal having just passed an MOT I want to cure the fuel surge problem that really dogged my first outing so I've decided to dump the original tank and replace it with a small, baffled tank and a swirl pot. Any advice on choice of pumps would be welcome. In fact, any advice from other owners that have gone this route would be appreciated.

Keep your std tank and use the in tank pump as a lift pump for a 2 litre swirl pot then use a Bosch 044 to feed the injectors

That's interesting, and certainly a lot cheaper. Thanks for the advice guys.

With the shape of the std tank, does that mean that I would still have to carry 10 litre of extra petrol (7.5 Kg) just to ensure I have good supply?
After all the weight saving mods have been done to the car , carrying that type of dead weight seems excessive.

Wouldn't the bosch 044 be overkill at 300 bhp?

Yes but you will have no need to change the pump for future upgrades on performance

Can't imagine so, you'd need to go around one hell of a long bend at WOT to use up the whole 2l in the surge tank, don't forget it's fed by the oe pump (which will flow more as it doesn't have to supply pressure) and the fuel line return.

Thanks for the advice guys. I met another type RA owner at a track meeting. As his car has had 7 years of development as a time attack car, i took advantage of his good nature and asked his opinion on this. His car is running a set-up as described above. So, I've decided to travel that route. What I propose is to intercept the feed and return pipes at the tank and where they disappear under the floor, passenger side. As these 2 points are joined by flexible hoses, the job shouldn't be too difficult. Can anyone help me identify the feed and returns.
