Default losing coolant

hi i own a impreza turbo 2000 on a 2001 y plate v6. i noticed it had a water leak thought it was rad or hoses so changed rad for a bigger alloy one and changed the hoses to silicone and put a new thermostat on. so thought i had sorted the problem till the other day i noticed it was coming out the expansion bottle. my mates dad looked at it and he said its not head gasket as theres no water in the oil or slug in the oil filler neck and no traces on the dipp stick it runs absolutly fine and does'nt even over heat i am now baffeled to what it could be can anybody help?

Just because of no water in the oil or vise versa doesnt mean the head gasket hasent failed. Infact normally on a scoob the fail between the bore and coolant jacket. Symtoms are bubbles in the coolant and blowing coolant out the expainsion tank. You need to get a sniffer test done to start with. If thats ok have a leakdown test done.

before you go spending any big money change your expansion cap as the rubber can go hard and eject the water out

Sounds like HG failure, if you are having it done you need a full strip to check the bottom end aswell as they often wreck the shells when the HG fails. Cost wise depends who does it & what parts are needed, but for a respected Subaru engine builder to do it you'll be looking at over £1400.
