classic boot release

Hi, chaps got m.o.t soon my boot release isn't working just lately ! Will this be an issue come m.o.t ?

Don't think so has the cable from the boot pull snapped

Not an issue for MOT.
Check the lock unit itself. There is a lever to disable the boot release from the car. Its easy to knock, and is as easy to make as the parking light mistake.
