Default Oil Squirters?

HI ALL..

Just got my EJ20G Block back from engineers and And They gave me a bag of Under piston Squirters ..??

Its amazing how rushing around causes you to miss Things Like This..

Has anybody else got these Fitted?..I was under the impression that they where only fitted to CDB Or STi's...

They are in the 1995 WRX block in my garage, and I was under the impression they were in all of the Subaru blocks.

Hi

Only fitted to EJ20 c.d.b and EJ22 c.d.blocks, it can be done by an engineering company so probably been done to block in the past.

The Subaru squirt jet is near on useless, WRC cars do not run them and I dont in my engines.

Cheers

Stephen.

Have come accross a few open deck blocks with Squirters chaps, Closed deck blocks have them as standard though and the open deck blocks usually do not, but it seems as though subaru were still going through the phase of reducing cost of manufacture which ultimately led to the open deck block and then the open deck block without the squirters.

Further more belt and braces - if you dont run the jets, ensure you block the oil galleries. But as i see it theres nothing wrong with the odd mist of oil to keep things cool and lubed.

Mitsubish did their oil squirters in that way on the Evo3 model, theirs have a vallve in them which gets stuck open eventually, and bleeds the pressure away from the big ends ending up with 'Crankwalk', which basically destroys the crankshaft, then the block if it doesnt get caught soon enough.
Earlier Evo's took the squirter feed from the main oil gallery so this wasn't a problem.
Not sure about later ones, but they fixed it somehow.

Possible right sti baly

I have only come across them in closed decks and its quite possible Subaru did run them in open deck blocks.

Yes, you can blank them off, I use m5 grub screws with a touch of Loctite.
