Turbo issue .. possible Upgrade
Hi all
The bottom end of my my00 UK turbo has suffered a major big end failure and seems to have been driven to destruction ..
Yesterday I delivered the new short motor to the engineers for some work so I went on to start on making sure the turbo was ok...
On stripping the turbo down there was loads of metal particles coming from the oil return and a slightly rough spot when turning the compressor wheel so I am pretty sure it's toast..
My question is ..has any one had a TD04 rebuilt and where..or would you upgrade to a more usable item...any info would be helpful...lee

Have a word with mattybr5@poleposition as he sells converted front entry TD05's for a reasonable price, you may wish to upgrade the MAP and boost solenoid (if it is a 2 port) before you get the car re-mapped as well.

You are better off sourcing a replacement "something with a bit more poke"
Its not worth rebuilding a td04 really, the cost of a second hand unit is next to nothing (paper weights really)
but you could have something a bit more interesting such as Galifrey is suggesting or a 2nd hand vf35 for 300 odd quid.
