Default o/d door handle removal ?

Hi, i'm replacing my scratched o/s/f door handle and surround on my bug sti and after some guidance.
Removing the door card i can do no probs, but my question is do i need to remove or slit the plastic skin to get access to the back of the handle?
Any advice appreciated, cheers

Hi mate just done this yeterday to replace a lock, the plastic is your choice mine was stuck to the inner door using some sort of very sticky black stuff that looked like silicone, i was able to peel this back and get to where i needed to then stick back no problems,

The only problem i had was when undoing the door handle from the inside of the door the brass inserts that the bolt actuallay goes into decided to break away from the plastic so although i was undoing it was just turning the brass insert inside the plastic handle, i overcam this by pulling the handle off once the plastic and let go of the brass insert then unbolted the insert from the bolt and then re glued the brass insert back into the handle using epoxy before putting back together.

Hope this helps !

As above.

BUT do beware of that black sticky stuff, it remains sticky, and WILL get onto you and your clothes, so wear something old.

Oh, and don't lose the little plastic bit that holds the locking bar in place.
