Default ecu on a 03 sti ppp??

was wondering if my ecu needs a license so it can be mapped??as some subaru specialists are claiming ill have to?i thought subaru used ecutek to do the ppp upgrade, not 100 percent on this though, just could do with knowing as ive fitted a few bits to the car now so a remap is definatly needed.any help appreciated everyone.

Your ECU can be mapped via EcuTek or Open Source, licence is needed for EcuTek not for Open source,Open source is cheaper and usually results after mapping are same

Depends where are you located and from this i would recommend mappers.

But usually for Open source i would suggest Duncan@Race dynamix,Graham@engineMapper,Andrew Carr,Neil@Slowboy Racing and Rich@FB tuning, some mappers are mobile

For EcuTek i would suggest Simon@JGM,Bob Rawle,Andy@Andy Forrest Performance,Pat Herborn and others

For open source you will expect pay from £300-£350 and for EcuTek from £400-£550

im based near hull mate, was going to use scoobyclinic, but a mobile mapper sounds better to me,so i could get say jgm to do an open source map for panel filter plus full decat, then use same mapper for when i start with the injetors turbo etc??or would i be better just taking it to clinic you think?

Scoobyclinic is good option too and many people are happy with service from them.

Simon@JGM is not doing the Open Source,he doing only aftermarket ECU and EcuTek,for Open source contact here Duncan@Race Dynamix and he is mobile.

What mods currently you have fitted without the mapping, assuming you are running the full decat exhaust, panel filter and decatted up pipe,if you are running those mods without the mapping,i would run off the boost until remap.

Plus i would recommend HRC 255LPH fuel pump and 3-port boost solenoid(this don't fit, mapper on day of remap will fit this and this don't take too much time)

You have STi or WRX?

If you have WRX then i would recommend those mentioned parts,if you have STi your Up pipe is all ready decatted and you don't need new up pipe, about the fuel pump depends on your feel there and new don't cost so much(£50 from HRC direct here),3-port is good to have, but not essentially needed on STi,on WRX i would say yes,Prodrive are good for money or from classic 3-port are great too.

For downpipe i would have look for Japspeed or Hayward and scott, just depends on budget, both are good and both are OK
