Default when should full boost come in on standard car TD05

Hello all

I just had me 95 wrx on the rolling road for a base mark before tuning.
Im running a standard car except 255 fuel pump, Dump valve and K&N panel filter.
It put out 240bhp @ 12Psi at the engine using its standard Z4 ECU and TD05 turbo.
Im happy enough with this as a start point but I noticed that I don’t hit full boost (12 psi) until 4000 rpm is this normal or do I have a lag problem.

I am away to up the boost to 16psi (using a scott t chip) & I want to make sure everything is working as it should before proceeding.

Who's mapping it for you?
They will know if there is a problem, surely?

I am doing a staged tune.
Stock right now

Then a polar performance Chip 27c1028 (scott T) similar to PPP remap
16 psi boost, adjusted timing and fuelling.
( I am going to run this for a bit while I get the car ready for the next step)

Then I am looking at Andy Forrest & a ESL remap don’t know what spec / parts im going to install yet im still deciding. That’s why I will run the polar chip as I don’t know how long it will be before the proper remap.

Im the worst for buying part and never getting round to fitting them I have had the polar performance Chip for years.

I don’t want to take it to Andy to fined I have got a bad turbo or leak some were I did not know about causing bad spool. (Wastes both are time)

This is my first turbo car so I am accustomed to the turbo spool (i don't know any different ).
when I went to the RR with my brother in law his car (not a Subaru) spooled up to full boost by 16psi @ 3000 rpm so was just wondering if my car was normal or if his was just really good

sounds about right to me, the turbo doesnt kick in straight away as you need to produce the boost, so need to be up the rev range.

unless you tweak it of course, but standard form, sounds right, 3.5-4k rpm

Thanks Rig that's what I was wanting to know.

I looked at andy forrest afp516g turbos that hit 1 bar (16psi) at 3000 rpm but that's a hibrid / custom turbo I just did not know what to expect form the standard td05 turbo

Mine has a HS TD05 20g on a 2.5 with FMIC.
It will hit boost at 3.5k easily.
