Default upgrade the brakes after...

Remap.

Getting the car remapped, i have a 2002 wrx and i have to say the brakes are pretty naff.

When upgrading do i need new brake pads/ discs and calipers?

whats the best route to go down

Sorry for being a total n00b but I dont know that much about cars so any advice is greatly appreciated.

Also any ideas on costs?

thanks in advance

Your best bet IMO is to upgrade to the STi brake set up, Ie 320mm Discs/Decent Pads and the bigger Brembo 4 Pot Caliper, You get pick up 2nd hand sets for around the £400-£450 range, But depending on your wheels you might need spacers or change them for something that will fit as the standard WRX wheel will not clear them.

I agree that the STi Brembo upgrade is best - that said the Brembo's take some getting used to - you really have to apply a decent amount of welly for them to really work well!
When I had my WRX I went for one of the bigger disc upgrades which worked very well - the kit comprises discs and larger pads but does make a real difference
