3 port boost solenoid, but only 2 hoses?
Evening all,
I've searched hi and low for the answer to this question and have found so many different answers! I have a 3 port boost solenoid but it only has 2 hoses coming off it, one is from the top and one from the middle but the bottom outlet has nothing.
I've read up about the restrictor pill that should be in the bottom hose that attaches to the nipple after the MAF, but I've also read that it doesn't need one if the engine is tuned.
I have a fmic, HKS mushroom filter and a turbo back exhaust. The car has been mapped on the standard ECU using an ESL daughter board. Today when I took it out it was underboosting and juddering while accelerating.
Any advise about the boost solenoid and my underboost problem would be greatly appreciated.
James

You need the pill ( restrictor ) in the pipe to the airbox. The center pipe in the front of the solenoid. ( If your solenoid is same has this one ).

You only need the restrictor pill if this set up is std on your car. If you are fitting a 3 port to replace your 2 port solenoid then the bottom pipe simply connects to your airbox, or vents to atmosphere for those running induction kits without the restrictor pill.
The car will need remapping also ,if going from 2 to 3 port also.
