Default running lean advice

my 1995 wrx was running with lack of power for a few weeks, one garage said it was running lean.
I changed the maf and the car is back to driving fast. but it still miss fires when taking foot of throttle and it's tick over is rough.
one forum suggests to a similar problem that you can getting it richer by adding a adjustable fuel pressure reg is this fixing it?
what is wrong with the car?

thanks, need this fix as car is great and i want to sell it.

Not sure if it's running lean........ when an impreza runs lean it actually produces more power as the mixture is nearing it's most efficient burn........then it gets too efficient and dets with the engine going pop

I'd take it to a local scooby specialist and get them to have a look rather than trying to diagnose on an internet forum.

Where are you ?

If it has MOT I'd sell "as is" rather than spend a lot of time / money / effort on something that isn't going to recoup your spend come sale time........
