Default Exhaust Manifold question

Guys i have a set of unequal headers i took off my car as they were blowing, but at the time they were heat wrapped, didnt notice that they just had the springs missing on them until after i took them off.
Is it worth just buying some springs for them or getting my mate to weld them up for me?? Dont really understand why they were just not welded up in the first place.

The sprung joint acts like a weak spot preventing fracture of the tubular steel elsewhere.

Get some springs.

With a solid uppipe and fully welded joints, expansion and contraction will induce cracking of the header at the collector.
For that reason all my uppipes are slip jointed.
