Default none starter, any ideas??

I have a '96 sti, a couple of weeks ago the engine sheered
off 2 bolts on the cambelt tensionor housing, have sorted that
problem, however, on putting it back together the engine refuses
to start. There is spark, pressure from the fuel pump, camshafts were all lined up when the belt was put on. I have now come up against a brick wall
and don't know what to try next. Any suggestins would be greatfully reveived. Cheers

Do a compression test to see if the valves are sealing or whether they have been bent. You should be able to tell if there is ANY compression by the sound and how fast it spins on the starter.

Have you put the belt on correct on the crankshaft? there are 2 marks, one is an arrow the other is a straight line. The arrow needs to be at 2 o'clock and the line has to be at 12 o'clock. Some people think the arrow is the actual timing mark and put it at 12 o'clock. This will prevent it from starting but doesn't do any valve damage. A friend of mine did this and i've also bought a non runner before where the chap had done a cambelt change and could never get it running. So i would check this first.

Thanks for all the suggestions fellas. I think I know what the problem
is now. I miss read the diagram and thought the line on the diagram
was the key for the crankshaft, so had that poniting upwards and the line
that should have been pointing upwards was pointing downwards.
So going to put it back together tomorrow and try again.
what a complete tool
