Default Oil Catch Tank Advice Needed

Hi all,

I'm looking to purchase an oil catch tank very soon. Now I have read a few people saying that the ones you can get on eBay are more than sufficient but this is eBay. What are peoples recommendations? I see JapSpeed do one which is only a 2 port system where as other companies make them with a 3 port system. I believe it's something to do with put the oil back into the sump? Anyways I'm going round in circles and would like to know which one people suggest so I can get one for my car. The car is a 05 STI.

- Thanks

Don't waste stupid money on one of these, a D1 spec one off here or eBay is good enough. You don't need three ports as you can tee 2 pipes together. When I spoke to Harvey about one he told me it's only to catch oil & you can even use an old oil bottle.

I bought my from Ebay for 20 quid - it does good job - no problems at all
Can't see a point to buy expensive one unless U want it to look better than other cheaper stuff
Even better , in the box I had all nessessary hardware to fit it , including few inches of silicon pipe

Most important thing is the ports sizes especially the outlet if you are VTA many cheap ones have smaller bore inlets/outlets than the breathers on the block/heads.

I run an AOS from Grimmspeed which is return to sump and a hell of a lot cheaper/easier to fit than the equivalent oil catch can and doesn't need draining.

I like the look of that but its nearly £200 so not exactly cheaper than a catch can.

I've recently put my AOS vent line into a catch can just to check if any oil was getting through, plus alllowed me to vta via a filter on the catch can outlet - 3k miles later not a drop in the catch can so will be running a longer VTA hose straight out under the car.

Did those miles involve any track work because thats what is making me consider it. Not sure its necessary for road use.
