Advice for Subaru P1 Engine Problem.
Hello all, im a long time lurker and only now felt the need to register due to needing some technical advice
Ive a P1 with FSH, low miles and always run on super or vpower, was remapped years ago and has ran perfectly until very recently. Symptoms are the car idles very erratically at tickover and when driving it runs very lumpy and jerky with the power delivery, kind of feels like its misfiring and when giving it more acceleration/load shows some black smoke from the exhaust. It also feels like it wants to cut out when approaching a junction and to keep working have to left foot brake while blipping the accelarator.
I've had a garage plug into it and it shows no fault codes, and tried a second hand idle control value on it which didnt cure the issues(unsure as to how reliable the control valve was as it was a second hand part) I've ordered a new MAF sensor and will be fitting it later this week hoping this may be cure the issues.
Any advice or opinions for things which I should try please feel free to let me know.

Hi Mate,
I have a P1 and had exactly the same issue. I stripped the Idel Control Valve out and cleaned it which didnt rectify it. I purchased a brand new IDC and fitted that and its been perfect since. Could it just be the second hand ICV you have purchased is past its best??

Thanks for the advice fellas, I'll be picking up and changing the MAF on Friday, would love for that to resolve these issues.
Jinkus what is an IDC, is it another name for the idle control valve?
Cheers
