v5 ecu in a saloon?
Hi everyone! just a quick question about my ecu. I have a 94 sti with a 96 sti type ra engine in it. I was told when I bought it that it has a mappable ecu but I couldn't remember what make/model he said it was so I've just had a look.
Once I'd found out, I came on here and searched some threads about it. It's a Subaru v5. Some of the threads said it's off a wagon and shouldn't be used on a saloon, plus it runs really low boost.
My car has a fmic, prodrive turbo back exhaust, hks mushroom filter, fuel pump, bigger oil pump (or something that gets more oil where it needs to be, can't quite remember what he said) that's all I think?
So my question is
1. Should I get another ecu
2. Is it okay to run a v5 ecu on my saloon
3. Is it mappable
4. If it's no good then what ecu should I get
The car seems quick enough, but then again it is my first Impreza! and my first car with over 200 bhp.
I should mention that the guy I bought it off was a mechanic for a Subaru specialist and he pretty much built the car from a rolling shell. He's also my friends boss and a decent bloke, and i know he knows his stuff about Subaru's but I just thought I'd put the questions out there.
Many thanks in advance and merry Christmas
James

Hello
The easiest way to do this is to say no to all, but 3 is correct.
You can get an ESL daughter board for your car and that can be mapped, this is the easiest option for you.

It would be inside the ecu, so lets just get this straight, the car has a version 5 ecu or a V5 (as in pink on the case) ecu?
If the car has been built (rebult) then it could be a hash of alot of things, or it could have been done all ok, its hard to tell.

It's a v5 the same as this one

The car all seems to be running fine. I live right near Zen performance so I might take it there in the new year and see what they can do.
