Default Breather Pipes???

Hi.

Been experiencing bad oil smell from my 05 Impreza GX Sport (EJ201) inside the car coming through the air vents.

Just been under the bonnet and found a pipe on the drivers side coming from the block, between the spark plugs that goes nowhere, there is the same pipe on the other side (between the sparks) that has a little filter on the end.
My car has a cold air induction kit (fitted when i bought it)

I think the smell is coming from the open ended pipe but they are but venting inside the engine bay

Are these the oil breather pipes?

Cheers
Chris

Not sure on the GX but they sound like the oil breather pipes from the heads/cam cover. They should be routed back to the intake (as standard) Grab an oil catch can and then route the outlet away under the car.

Someone on here is selling D1 spec catch cans for a good price, Iv got one real nice. If you do a search he even posted pics of how to fit. You route both cam cover breathers & your crank case breather to it. Let's your engine breathe better & cuts down oil contamination in your inlet.

Cam cover breathers are on the sides of the engine, crank on the top!
