Default how long should a clutch last (2004 STI)

hi, im looking at buying a 2004 STI with 79k on the clock. i had a 2003 sti with 60k before and the clutch went after a month. the guy who is selling the car says the clutch is original but not slipping. i know its driving style that determines a clutch's life but does 79k sound like the end of the road for the original clutch?

Thats an impossible question to answer. As you say it depends on loads of different things. My 2002 sti did 70,000 on the o/e clutch. But its modified power wise and did do some track days and standing starts.

It wouldn't put me off buying, assuming you can haggle anything over £300 off the car

Clutch Fitting Labour £150, plus clutch kit.

Mines on 71k and 420+ Bhp and still on the original clutch. Boost has been turned down in 5th and 6th to help it last a bit longer.

Budget £700-£900 for a decent exedy or similar clutch including the fitting
