Default Fitting boost gauge

In a Scoob, a mechanical one. My dearest friend who is a genius wants me to suss it myself so I'm asking here before attempting

Right, got a Lamco mechanical boost gauge.

1. Where does the boost pipe go with a t-piece?
2. Two wires, one is earth (black) other is live (yellow) - something about pulling hazard switch out and use a circuit tester.

Right, I'm electrically dyslexic, dunno have a mind block for some reason and hate them! But I wanna do this and my mate has offered to assist who is more electrically minded but wanted to try wire it to the headunit live so it would never be off. Understanding is the dial should light up when headlights are on?

Right, help

You can have a nosey around how mine are fitted when you come to pick up the pod, Andy. Might help to see it rather than me attempting to explain it (especially from memory because it's FAR too cold to venture outside to double check ) however, if I remember correctly the black is grounded by the cigarette lighter and it takes the live feed from the head unit... I think

That for the t-piece too.

Like I say, come and have a look on mine over a beer and a chat... and yes, I realise how that sounds.

Yeah that's right, I don't know how to fit a boost gauge.

I joined in 2006 and owned Imprezas upto June 2008. Then circumstances portrayed I'd not own another Impreza until September 2011 so no need to know.

I could draw you a picture if that made it easier to understand Cas? Now if you have no useful input into my thread - **** off

And do you know what? By the time he'd written this he had texted me endlessly and had it fully explained TWICE!

Trouble is, he doesn't want to do it himself..........
He wants someone to do it for him, while he "watches and learns."

And I'm too old and moving too badly to be sat twisted in a car finding and joining wires that anyone with a bit of nous could do.

Anyone want to bet he's ALSO forgotten about the unused nipple on his inlet manifold I showed him when he first had the car? LOL LOL

This is what I texted him, after he told me the boost gauge has a yellow, and black wire, the black having a ring connector on the end:

"Andy, do you take any notice of anything I tell you?" (this was the third try).
"Pull out either the hrw or hazard warning switch.
Use the (live) finder to find lighting live behind either.
Yellow to this live, black to earth."

Guess what I got back?

"Whats hrw?"

You have to laugh, or you'd cry.

Sorry Andy, I just find it amazing that after I explained it THREE times, you still had to post on here.

Why, oh why, did you not just phone me?

Jeff.

LOL, if you had called my FIRST instead of texting, maybe you'd have understood sooner.
You know I'm pretty useless at texts and am presetly using a new system my eldest put on the phone for me, it's called SWYPE and it does my head in.

If you still don't understand what to do, give me a ring, I'll talk you through it. Even WHILE you do it. (But go and buy that circuit tester first, or come here and borrow one of mine: I have two.)

But at present, I'm not in any fit state to be DOING much but sitting

Thanks for the understanding LOL LOL

And that last was a joke...........you know, ha! ha!

Jeff.

I don't like bugging you on a night time, that's why I text or pm you.

Gonna pick up a circuit tester eventually and teach myself, I just don't like electrics.

So now we've kissed and made up...

LOLOLOLOLOL
Texting me is MORE likely to bug, you know what a useless texter I am.

Car electrics is EASY, firstly you can't get a shock, secondly everything is colour coded, thirdly it's logical, fourthly current can only go where YOU decide/let it, fifthly everything in modern cars is fused, so if you DO manage to make a mistake, the worst than can happen is a blown fuse. Or your new bit just doesn't work.

You should have been around when a loose connection on my Escort melted most of the wiring under the dash. Luckily it didn't catch fire
Took me aged 19 and my dad and Mr Haynes-Manual most of a day to rip out, resolder in new and re-wrap.

I used to have a brilliant book on auto electrics made simple, leant it out, never got it back.

could you not splice into the OBD port wiring as it has a live feed in it? and is directly below the steering column so not that much wriggling about to fit/splice

I did have a brain wave but not sure if its viable.

Was going to try it myself lol.

Is it possible to splice into the the iso adapter that connects to the headunit wireing and the car wirering harness. That way if you mess it up you can replace the iso lead instead.

I wouldn't, for two reasons:

Firstly there are too many wires there to search for a live, in too cramped a space. Secondly, I'm not sure there IS a LIGHTING live there, which is what he wants.

The wire he splices the yellow into must ONLY be live when IGN and sidelights, (or headlights as well) are on.

ROFL at the this thread!

What i was trying to address is that you have 17,000+ posts but none of them have been of any outcome towards the forum because you always post shyt. Other then that I dont really need to know if you have been into Subarus's since 2006 etc etc etc

I will certainly **** off after this but in the future please feel free to keep your shytty opinions & post's to yourself, as you also dont ever have anything useful to say

Hope this helps http://www.scoobypedia.co.uk/index.p...dge/BoostGauge

Suppose at least it's not 'what chav valve should I buy' or 'what Halfords crap should I put on my car this week' thread.

A search through my posts (if you have the brain power to do so in-between the 'whoosh' noise of your chav trumpet) will see I have made many useful posts on here. I like many other purists simply don't waste my time with the dross that seems to have moved into Subaru ownersip in the last couple of years. So as we've agreed you're gonna **** off and not spoil a useful thread about something beneficial to a Subaru (ie not useless tat like fake carbon etc) like gauges.

I thankyou. Jeff, you may get a call Sunday if I have trouble finding the headlights live.

Jeez what a thread, is this what this place has become?

A guy asks a technical question and gets told he should know because he has a high post count?? Why? If he's never done it before how the hell would he know?

As COB says there is a worrying trend amongst those currently moving into Scoob ownership and it isn't a good one!

For example and off the top of my head appreciators of overstyled slammed abortions of cars that can't perform and look more at home in a Max Power mag, VTA dump valve advocators, illiterate text speak aficionados, some scammers, people wanting to know how to make their car make a 'chatter' like the rally cars in the WRC (in spite of the fact it is destroying their turbo) and so on and so forth.

Those of us who appreciate the car because it is fun to drive, goes well for the money and treated right is reliable are fast becoming outcasts.... a sad state of affairs!

Sir amen to that. If we all knew how to do everything than scoobynet would be a boring place full of bazzed up cars - oh wait...

Chris, we are a dying breed!
