Default CDB?

Hi evryone,
Iv been offered an engine cheap, the seller claims it's a CDB, but I'm suspicious as it's too cheap, how can I tell without striping it. Is there an engine code or something? Thanks.

Quote from APi:

The only definite way to tell is that ALL CDB's have the cross hatch squares on the casting immediately above the oil filter location. None others are absolutely definite.
The heads will have the cross hatch on too, but that means nothing in terms of the CDB.

A couple of new pictures of CDB Hatching to add to the archives:

Green arrows show hatching on the oil filter/modine housing and the area above the oil pump.

Green arrow shows hatching on oil gallery feed to right hand cylinder head.
