Default bailey dumpvalve

Hi Again all,
every man and his dog is telling me to get rid of the bailey dump valve?
is there a reason why?
is it just personal preference or are they crap?
Have used them before on other cars and never had a problem.
As i have said before, i am still learning scoobs, this one came with the bailey already fitted, so i don't know any different.
all advice gratefully received and usually acted upon when funds are available
thanks

dump valves are gay lol

but i have heard from a few scoob owners they dont seem to get on with the baileys they seem to leak.

if a DV is the way you want to go best of spending a bit on a HKS BOV or a turbosmart smoemthing like that not a cheap piston d/v

It's all to do with preference. If you want a vta that's fine. Had a baleys on mine and it was crap so got rid of it and got a turbosmart one instead. I'm assuming the saying you get what you pay for applies here.

I put one on before, then took it off.
Complete waste of money, made the car idle really s**t.

It's better just to keep the standard one. Many people on here share the same opinion.

Thats good enough for me, i didnt fit it, the previous owner saw fit to put it on along with other **** mods, and i took over the car with it.
dont have a standard one to replace with at the moment,
will have a look about now and see what i can find, and yeah it does idle a bit on the s**t side
thanks

It's not just vent to atmosphere dv's being crap, it's because on a maf based intake set up on a Subaru if you dump air out of the system that has already been calculated for then your car will run slightly rich which over time can cause bore wash and maybe damage the cats.

As above, plus the excess fuel, borewash, causes lack of upper cylinder lubrication, thinning of the oil etc.

Scoob engines are pretty delicate without that.

And as for anyone telling you to go ahead, it's been OK on HIS car, will HE be paying your repair bills if/when it goes **** up?
Or will you?

Of course ANYONE is free to do as he wishes to HIS, or HER car.

It just needles me a bit when people on here urge others to do stuff, either not knowing the consequences, or having wrong ideas. I HAVE seen people post things like, "Do it mate, never mind these old fogies, do it. It worked fine on my RS Turbo!"

I mean, come on..........and will the ones doing the urging be around to help pay for any damage that does occur?

I should co-co!

Completely agree mate.

Thats why I try to give impartial advice often based on what I have done and give the other person the option of listening to what I have to say or not. They can then do what they want to.

The whole VTA V's Recirc argument does tend to polarise people, I had a Blitz BOV on my Type R but I was also running an Apexi Power FC.

In terms of Bailey BOV, my personal opinion is they aren't that great in terms of their build quality when compared to the likes of HKS, Blitz, Turbosmart or GFB.
