Unhappy

Posting this for my brother as he's pulling his hair out at the moment!

We fitted a dawes last week & set the boost to 15psi.
He's certain he's getting fuel cut as his boost gets cut off in high gears.
Just been out with him & it was fine until in 5th he floored it backed off floored it backed off again & then it would only boost to 10psi, change gear then it was back up to 15 again.
He left to go home & called me to say its cutting again.
I thought fuel cut is about 17.5 on scoobs (my94) does anyone know for certain??
Any guesses to whats causing his problem???

Over boost (boost peaks) can cause the fuel cut to be activated.
I think you may need to fit a fuel cut defender (see threads by John Banks and Co.). 16.5 psi held is the current wisdom for a 'safe' setting with the FCD.

With a dawes though, you get no boost spikes it just jumps to the desired setting, so hopefully no overboost.

Not the case IMHO. The boost spikes can be all but invisible on a boost gauge (especially a mechanical one) due to the needle damping. However the electronics in the ECU will still 'see' the spikes and detect overboost.

Fuel cut on earlier models is much lower. See other threads for Dawes issues on imports - in the FAQ in my profile and recently. If setup correctly it is fairly spike free - see my Delta Dash plots.

I also have a my94 uk turbo which has been played with by PE quite a bit.
It was running 15psi via a bleed (installed by PE) which was done when it had a phase 1 remap.
Last week when i istalled my dawes, at first i was seeing 22psi & no fuel cut, so dont know whats going on there, AFAIK theres no fcd.
Its now running happily again on 15-16psi.
Both mine & my brothers are uk 94's.
