07 sti exhaust advice
hi guys im new here so hello, ive just purchased a standard 07 sti and was looking for some exhaust advice. i like the look of the standard back box so was wondering what i could do further up to make it louder and open her up a bit.
any one have any advice on mods to do? and will i need a remap just for some exhaust mods?
also any recommendations on air filters to fit?
one last thing :P
what is the difference between a dump valve and a waste gate?
sorry for all the questions just new to subaru so any advice would be great cheers

If you want to keep the OE back box,you could replace the centre resonated section with say a H&S straight through centre section.
You wouldn't need a remap for this either & should release a bit more burble!

Hi and welcome to Scoobynet
I have a STI air filter in my STI, it was expensive but is a nice item. Cosworth ones also seem to have a good reputation.
As IggyRB320 says, a H&S de-res centre will add some noise, I am running one with their std size rear box and it makes a lovely noise.
A wastegate allows exhaust gas to bypass the turbine in the turbo to limit the amount of boost generated.
A dump valve dumps boost pressure from the intake system when the throttle is closed, preventing it from stalling the compressor wheel.

STI is a make or a brand at least
This is the Air filter I've got

Waste gates can make some noise but thats quite a high end mod on a road car. Dump valve can be changed to a more noisy version but doesnt give any performance increase. Std dump valve does make some noise especially after a remap.
