Sick bug eye
Got the heads off
My sick engine machine shop wants £350 to skim and cut valves and valve seats as was losing compression through valves ! And to re shim and set up heads so they are ready to be fitted , in his words a complete read build to both heads . Then for adl / blue print clutch head set and bolts timing belt and tensioners £800 and my turbo is screwed so that going to cost a good few quid , would I be better risking just buying an engine and throwing that in ?

I had a similar problem when my bottom end started knocking, rebuild or replace.
Ended up buying a 2nd hand engine for £450 with guaranteed mileage and fitted in a weekend. Had it health checked by Scoobyworld a few weeks ago and its running sweet, although I did pay £250 for a cambelt kit, oil n filter before we fitted it so it set me back £700 in total.
Its up to you chap, all depends on budget really. Is it STi or WRX?
