Default head gasket

just a quickie guys

what are the chances of the block deck needing checked before head gasket renewal ?

the heads will definately be getting skimmed etc but have heard people getting the blocks checked are they a problem or am i getting worried over nothing ?

If i was doing the gasket bud I would only inspect the block as in is cast steel very seldom anything goes wrong with the block if their was anything wrong you would notice it straight away just check for piston movement in the bore and have a good inspection with a good light

it also has liners though which is the part im worrying about ? ie the deck height , warped deck etc

Clean the deck faces off taking care not to get anything down the oil feed or oil return holes and put a straight edge across the faces. Check for warp by trying to insert a feeler blade under the straight edge.
The deck faces of the Cast Alloy crankcases can distort if the engine has boiled up due to coolant issues.
