Default sensor help

only had my scoob 2 weeks now and got down underneath before and noticed a sensor on drivers side behind the spotlight area with two wires looks to me like its on the exhaust anyway the two wires have been cut and looks like im missing something important here , can anyone tell me what this is or were it should be connected to ??

if it's on passenger side low down and goes into exhaust that will be your lambda/oxygen sensor and yes it is important and shouldn't be cut!

Defo drivers side mate looks like a lambda but surely the car wouldn't idle if that wasn't connected ?

sorry missed you say drivers side the first time. Well on legacy twin turbo it's on pass side. Sorry I don't know then, perhaps a photo would help. I'm sure someone on here will be able to help...

Yeah ill try sort a pic tomorrow I'm sure it is a lambda but I really thought it would mess up the running of the car everything runs smooth and sound so ill have to get it looked at I reckon , but thanks for your help so far

yeah I would think so but the lambda is only used at certain rev range, I think it uses MAF at lower revs and lambda/map at higher but I could have that wrong...

What model is it and what model year?

Has it ever had gauges fitted? Could it be egt?

It's a 96 and I'm not exactly sure of what model it is because of a apparent engine swap it has gauges , what's an egt sorry to act so stupid but having owned cars for the past 19 years these engines are quite alien to me
