Std turbo if it is a wrx is a td04 ,if it is a sti then its a vf35,a popular upgrade if your car is a wrx is the vf35 and other supporting mods which can see power rise to 320 - 350 bhp ,but your gearbox wont take a lot more than that .

I'm junking my td04 in favour of a vf24, I decided that a reliable 300-310 horsies would be best for me and the gearbox.

I would go for a a VF34 or VF35. I am running a 34 with supporting mods on my 2003 bugeye and am getting 340bhp and around 300lb of torque.

Default Same Idea As Me!

Hi Mate,

Ive got a 2001 WRX with PPP. Its currently running at 260bhp.

It's going in next week to have a vf34 turbo upgrade, sti top mount intercooler, sti pink injectors, up and down hoses and a upgraded fuel pump. Then it will be mapped.

I think it will get to 320-340bhp and not trouble the gearbox as anything over 350bhp seems like its not worth bothering with a std wrx you might as well buy someones pride and joy who has spend the many thousands to make it bullet proof.

Anyway I suggest changing the injectors, intercoolers and the hoses if you want to keep it reliable. Lets face it 320bhp -340bhp and reliable is not a bad outcome compared with 360bhp and a new gearbox and pistons in 6 months.

Blitz Nur Spec is great exhaust, but not quietest, starting at cold morning will be interesting, hope so you have friendly neighbor

Best upgrades for WRX are, which i've done before:

STi pink injectors(550cc)

255lph Walbro Fuel pump

VF34/VF35/VF30

FMIC(but you should be OK with STi TMIC),if you are going for FMIC good air filter should be recommended too.

Decatted exhaust including Up pipe(STi Up pipe will be cheapest option)

3-port boost solenoid

You don't need anything like 70mm throttle body,Fuel pressure regulator,water/meth don't need, better will be if you will have map for meth and you will just ad meth to fuel tank..

And in this stage you should have look for better brakes like Brembo or K-Sport,better gearbox with clutch will be good option too,if you are planning to go above 350bhp

Don't want to go the meth route as I'd forget to fill it. I've run the lager throttle body's in the past with good results like wise with the aquamist kits Take it no one runs them on these cara then ?

Aquamist system are good, from Nasioc threads which i've read they're are great, but pricey, some people have problems in past with failing these systems..

Larger throttle body on Subaru is not largely used, due low gains, better turbo have better gains than any Large throttle body, that's the my view

Best place for find right turbo,is here,eBay or PH,these are usually best places

Depends for how much bhp you are looking, but mine favorite is VF34,which is nice turbo with right mods will make around 350bhp,if you are looking for slightly better spool VF35 should be right for you.

VF30 and VF34 are similar, have same exhaust housing, but VF34 is ball bearing and have better spool against VF30

VF35 have smaller exhaust housing, its thrust bearing(same like VF30),and usually have better spool, but worse top end and usually will make 330-340bhp
