Default ECU Reset itself????

Hi,

Before I start I clearly don't have as much knowledge as some, so sorry if this sound a little dumb.

I have a MY07 Impreza WRX with various mods. This was remapped by Bob Rawle towards the beginning of this year.

Tonight, I had misplaced my key and was in a hurry to get somewhere so I decided to use the spare key which I'd never used before. It unlocked the car and enabled me to turn the ignition on and turn the engine over but no life. I then realised I'd not used the spare key before and assumed there must be a problem with it. So I continued to hunt for the primary key and found it. The car started perfectly with the usual key and off I went.

Being pretty late by this point I put my foot down and nothing of the usual nature came out!! It felt like a standard WRX (which is fairly underwhelming to say the least)! It was set to boost at just over 1.5bar and now, although there is some boost pressure, it's boosting at under 1.0bar!

Is there any way inserting a different key could have reset the ECU to some standard setting? Is there a way to reset the ECU to the remapped settings? Think it is ECUtek (had PPP before I brought the car).

Thanks in advance for your help.

Paul

Hi there, my car does this sometimes,
I have an engine cut red key, which disconnects the battery from the car,
If I was you I would just take the + lead off the battery and count to 10 then reconnect, this will reset the ecu to the Map that Bob put in for you.

it is not possible to erase the map and return to previous settings..

it is possible to reset the ecu and clear the learnt data but that shouldnt effect the boost.

Did bob put two boost levels on the car on the heated rear screen switch and full throttle to toggle? it might have defaulted to the lower boost setting if he did?

As JGM says the ECU stores the map on EPROM so no amount of messing you do will change the map. Try turning on the ignition (do not start) then full throttle and press the rear screen heater.....this will toggle between low boost and high boost settings if Bob Rawle has enabled it in EcuTeK.
