First off, what mods have you got? E.g remap, cai , up pipe etc.

That might narrow it down.

Stuttering like that could be so many things, o2 sensor failing, fuel starvation, induction leak after the maf (my samco hose came loose), ecu seeing knock, failing ecu (unlikely but has happened), sparkplugs or coils the list goes on.

I would take it to a specialist who can do some logging and put a wideband on it.

Have you tried posting on http://www.subaruforester.org/vBulletin/f75 ?

Also... Are you the same guy who has 2 22b's?

As per Fleetwoods comments, lots of things it could be and best to log it and see what the ECU is reporting.

One quite common problem is the MAF sensor so it would be worth cleaning that first and foremost - not guaranteed to work of course but it's a cheap and easy thing to do before expending more cash tracing the issue.

Are there any other symptoms BTW (e.g. high fuel / oil consumption, difficult cold / warm starting etc)?
