Default performance ?'s about my hawkeye

just after abit of advice if poss..
ive recently bought a 2006 hawkeye..
looking at adding some performance mods. it feels pretty nippy as it is, and im not sure if its standard. it has a prodrive cat back exhaust, and appears all cats are still in place. there are also no markings on the ecu to suggest it has been remapped. are there any mods that could be done without being obvious.
is there a way of telling if it has a ppp package.
also what mods would you suggest. sorry for all the questions, hope you can help

cheers dave

Get a decent panel filter, uprated fuel pump, remove the second cat and get it mapped.
You will get a decent release of hp + a nice hike in your torque figures

this is the road i'm looking at going down, had the cat removed already, at what sort of stage do you need to look at uprating the clutch?

When it starts to slip lol. Should be fine with the mods your looking at, as long as your not launching it.

what sort of potential issues are you talking about? (i'm a complete noob to impreza's at the mo.) i didn't actually remove the cat it was already done when i'd bought the car, how much is it for a re-map (average cost i relise it will differ depending where i go) can anyone recommend a good place that does this near the Bedfordshire area?

Indeed there is always a risk on these of piston failure regardless of whether they are mapped or not. With a decat it changes the turbo dynamics i.e the way in which it boosts, so that at the very least will need to be mapped for.

Typical output on these cars is anywhere between 250-270bhp with 300+lb/ft of torque.

Mapped correctly though and the longevity of the engine should be maintained.

Hope this helps,

Graham

Dumb newbie question, what's the best panel filter and will it be the same for my 54 plate Fozzy XT?

well after having a good look round my car. i have found it to have a performance pannel filter(not sure what one tho)a vf30 turbo and a walbro fuel pump. i beleive it has been mapped in the past also with a decat down pipe. but when i bought the car the cats were put back on to pass an mot. im looking at buying a decat downpipe to put back on. what sort of power will it run once the decat and remap have been done, with the mods i have

cheers dave

Around 350bhp, but you will then have to watch the gearbox and clutch and the brakes will definately not be up to the job

cheers for the reply. i dont mind backing the power down slightly, to help with gearbox longevity. i think its already got an uprated clutch in it as its quite heavy. also ive just replaced the front dics and pads for godspeed grooved disc's and kevlar pads.
what would you say is a sensible bhp that wont stress the gearbox too much

cheers dave

Why not fit the Japspeed sports cat? Saves alot of hastle come MOT time and not much more money than the de-cat.

I still got 340 ish with sports cat on my hawkeye on standard clutch.

Your uprated discs and pads still won't be good enough at that power level trust me. I had very uprated wrx brakes and still had to go brembos in the end.

Good luck.

i dont drive like an ****. if im doing 70mph the brakes will work the same regardless of horsepower.
the brakes are better than they were, thats not to say i wont upgrade them in the future.
i agree the faster the car the better the brakes needed, but this is a road car and i never really hit triple digits. therefore the uprated disc's and pads i have should suffice imho
