Terzo vs evo8.. I need brakes
Had a play with an evo8 today and it was just pretty much neck and neck until we both come to an island where the inevitable happened. Something was hanging off under his car and i had no brakes. Im on standard disca and pads but on a budget, what are the best brakes and discs to get on a budget?
Race probs only took place over a mile or so and my brakes were faded to hell and i had to use my handbrake to stop me going into the back of him. I never found out what was hangin off underneath the evo...
Cheers guys

get better brakes is the only answer really, you might be able to help it with better discs and pads on your current setup but a set of brembos of a newage is relatively cheap anyway.
out of curiosity what has something hanging off the evo got to do with this lol?

Nope was definatly a turbo unless non turbos push 6ft flAmes out the back and go like stink. Just goes to prove evos arent all that lol. Back to my question, yes newage brembos seem the popular option which is what i shall do then. Never changed from standard brakes so i didnt have a clue. Just to add, im unsure what my car is running, not long had it. Has a prodrive system, rebuilt at central subaru but no idea what he changed. Mapped. Other than that i think its standard as it even has a standard filter. Is quite a quick one, seems quicker than my old v1 sti. Guess ill have to get it on dyno to find out ;6

My mate has a Evo 8 FQ300 raced so many times and he hasnt won a single time with my Type R and we cant call him a sh*t driver because he aint, when he brings his scooby he gives me a good race but his evo fq300 (had from new and very well looked after) running "400bhp" and my type r was running 326bhp before rebuild.

An Evo 8 GSR is circa 1400kg = 197bhp/ton
Terzo is circa 1250kg = 183bhp/ton
So just an exhaust and remap will see you leaving a standard GSR behind.
For reference, a standard 280bhp Sti classic has 219bhp/ton!

The Godspeed 335mm conversion is really good. I ran his kit for a couple of years before switching to K-Sport 330mm 8 pots and guess what, the Godspeed kit was better! That makes it good value for money too.

Well i reckon either the scooby drivers cant drive or you ay raced a real scoobs cuz this evo werent exactly boasting when we pulled up and had a chat he was asking questions about mine but its kind of irritating not knowing what mines had done. Spose i need to ask central subaru as apparently they know the car well.

no lag ? bit of an overstatement i think ?
have had the pleasure of driving an evo 8 fq300 , in short it wasnt much of a pleasure to be honest although would be great as a daily driver the turbo lag is noticeable , engines get real hot in the bay too open the bonnet after a half hour drive and it will singe the moustache of you lol
there will always be arguments as to what is superior evo or impreza etc id say when it comes down to the two its all about the driver really in my opinion
as for brakes id say just get a decent set of discs and pads mate , ones that will last and are of quality , good brake fluid wouldnt go amiss , neither would braided lines etc which may give you a better pedal feel to in the end , check the colour of your fluid too , have seen some which are real dirty and give poor brakeing also
my 2p

and you're right its comes to the driver i have both cars and i prefer the evo but love them both, with the evo to get 400 doesn't take a lot like a subaru does to get it...
