In that diagram it would be between the tank and filter. So it would go...

Fuel tank > in-tank lift pump > swirl pot > Bosch 044 > inline filter > T piece...

Mine feeds in from the front of the engine and returns to the rear... this places the regulator up by the bulkhead away from any impacts...

So with the walbro(in tank) having its on filter do i still need to filter the fuel to the swirlpot the reason i ask this question as i have just bought a sytec filter with An-6 fittings this would be ok if i use it after the 044 to feed the t peice.

Or do i need another filter frome tank to swirlpot this being An-8 .

I have An-8 at base of swirlpot and x3 An-6 at the top of the swirlpot ?

The circuit from the lift pump to swirl and back is a low pressure circuit so the standard filter should be fine, it could be ommited completely but unless it was reducing flow i'd probably leave it in.

I didn't on my drag skyline, I just ran the lift pump with filter bag to the swirlpot and then, as you say, the Sytec after the 044. Too many filters can cause a pressure drop, which in turn means the pump will be working harder which can lead to the fuel being heated.

My logic is it's a long run of pipe from the tank to the engine bay, any crap picked up along the way will end up at the bottom of your swirl pot, which your unfiltered 044 will then be pulling fuel from the bottom of

You will be absolutely fine, as you've said, with the filter on the in tank pump and the filter after the sytec. You shouldn't run into any problems at all running it that way.

Largest bore pipe usually goes to the high pressure fuel pump

+1, the "IN" will always be larger than the "OUT".

Yes that's correct, quick release fittings are handy (if a little expensive) as they make evrything so much quicker to change.
