Red face my STi version 3 has lost power!!! :( help needed

hi all.

help would be much appreciated. Long story cut short, my 97 sti seems to have lost around 80 horses and i can't seem to get them back. .

1 year ago i put my scoob into "the garage" over in motherwell Scotland for a health check and to get a manual boost controller fitted as I was experience lots of overboost . . . .They found the clutch was slipping at 5,500 revs, which I already had found out by myself, so they turned the boost down after fitting the MBC to protect the clutch till I could afford to get a new one fitted. . .

since I have had new clutch fitted I have it running 1.2bar and on the cusp of fuel cut (sometimes still getting boost spikes at 1.5 bar +) and it just doesn;t throw me back in the seat anymore like it used to do. I;d even go as far as saying it would struggle against a standard wrx. .

I have fitted new spark plugs, had new maf fitted and cleaned out the boost solenoid but its still frustrating me! any ideas as to why I've lost so much power???

thanks

Get it on the dyno and looked at by a reputable Subaru tuner and they should be able to answer your question. It's difficult to diagnose these types of problems over the internet without being fully informed on all the details.

Hope this helps,

Graham

Yeah I was thinking of getting it into Hypertech in scotland for a diagnosis but was hoping someone maybe will have had a similar problem and may know what the deal is. .was boosting unbelievably quick before i put it into that damn garage for a going over. . I dont have much faith in garages as I am the son of a mechanic and have had my dad repair all cars I have owned and now I do most if not all the work on my own. .

Are you sure that its fit mechanically? Older members will remember many tales of cars running with holed pistons...

its perfect mechanically mate, had a health check last year, all forged red top engine and all in perfect working order. only just over 70,000 miles on the clock. . was driving like a dream till the clutch went and that garage turned the boost down. I just don;t understand how 1.2bar boost isn;t quick??
my mates wagon runs 0.8 and its rapid. . .i'm convinced they messed around while it was in. but its a vf turbo so far *** i know you cant mess around with the actuator. .
