Default Engine out What to do ?

Ok so bought a engine goin to be dropping it in in by the end of the month I'm doing the rocker gaskets atm..
basically am wondering whilst the engine is out what is the best way to keep everything sweet ( lubricated ) would it hurt to put some fresh oil in in whilst out just don't want anything seizing internally meanwhile.

Maybe this is a stupid question but just Want to be sure.

Many thanks

Depending on where the exhaust has been removed from check condition of the studs.

Check the valve clearances while the cam covers are off (Not applicable if it has Hydraulic lifters).
